The license and regulations were developed in 2011 in order to maintain uniformity and accuracy among all the equipment and instruments used by an individual or a group for the sake of weighing and measurement.

PCR (PACKAGED COMMODITY REGISTRATION)

Any individual firm or a company into the business of packaging a product suitable for selling into the market has to register for a PCR License. The Ministry of Consumer’s Affairs, food and public distribution department has approved the amendments to the PCR. Through this registration it is ensured that the consumer is provided with all the appropriate information relating to a product.

The consumer should look out for the following details before purchasing -

• Common Generic Name of the Product.
• Name, address and contact details of the Manufacturer, Importer and Trader
• Month & year of Manufacture
• Expiry Date of the Product.
• Maximum Retail Price (MRP)
• Net Quantity (in Standard Units) depending on the nature of the product
• Details of Customer Care

No Dual MRP

The amendments in PCR Regulations prohibit usage of dual MRP on Products. No entity shall declare different MRP’s on identical products. No dealer/retailer can charge more than the Maximum Retail Price to prevent black marketing.
